Charon Barconey was elected Associate Executive Presbyter for the Presbytery of Detroit (November 2018) with a focus on mission, congregational development and transformation initiatives. Charon previously served the Presbytery of Detroit for ten years as the Youth Mission Coordinator, and as a Commissioned Ruling Elder, served as pastor to Hope Presbyterian Church in Detroit.

During the 223rd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church, USA, Elder Barconey chaired the committee on ‘Middle East Issues’ while serving as a delegate to the assembly. Charon has also served as a member of the Presbyterian Women, Inc. National Board of Directors.

In addition to being a fourth generation Presbyterian and undergrad studies at Eastern Michigan University, Charon is a graduate of the Urban Ministry Program at the Ecumenical Theological Seminary in Detroit. Charon is most proud to be the mother of two sons, Michael and Jordan.
